We are excited to host our annual Taste the World event this week! Taste the World is a multicultural celebration and potluck! Instead of a normal Thursday night UCM, we will be in the UNC Ballroom and we will eat delicious food from a variety of cultures and nations, as well as engage in presentations from various cultures. Here’s some important information to note about the event:
As this is a potluck, we ask you to contribute by bringing a dish from your culture or background, or a favourite food even if it is not from your specific culture. You could do this individually, in pairs, or in a small group. We ask that dishes contain enough for around 4-6 small servings.
Food does not have to be homemade by you. If you don't have the time or kitchen facilities, you could buy food from the international food aisle of the grocery store, from an international foods store, or from a restaurant.
Please fill in this google form to let us know what you will be bringing. This will help our team plan accordingly for the evening. Don't let the form be a barrier though, if you forget to fill it out, we would still love for you to bring something!
Additionally, we are looking for people to do a cultural presentation during the event! This is a chance to share something about your culture with the UCM community. This would be around 10 minutes long, and the possibilities are endless! Some examples of presentations that have been done in the past include teaching us some of your language, showing us traditional clothing, singing music or playing a musical instrument, or doing a slide show or kahoot on facts about your country, and more!
If you'd like to do a cultural presentation, please fill in this google form so that Nickeisha can plan how many people there will be.
Lastly, invite your friends to come! It will be a lot of fun and a great time!
